The addition of Sarah Palin to McCain’s ticket has inspired me to vote for president. I was not willing, until recently, to vote for a man who believes that global warming is a result of this country’s freedom.
The motto, “Country First,” to me, has a different connotation than putting the country of the United States of America before all else, but to point out that it is the rural areas of our great nation that make this country a prize.
It is us, the country folk, steeped in religion, and the fact that our families generations have lived in the same place as we do now. They fought the wilderness to lay claim to this land. They fought the rough seasons that could have been the death of them. We, the generations of children they helped create, owe a great debt of gratitude to them. They founded a nation in darkness.
We have learned, partly through them, the reality of nature, the wrath of the Lord, the kindness of strangers.
God bless our humble beginnings, America, and have peace through strength.
